Four days guided hiking tour around Marmarole

An intense and beautiful 4-day hiking circuit discovering the Marmarole, one of the wildest regions in the Dolomites, in Northeastern Italy.
The Marmarole is a group of mountains in the province of Belluno. It's a relatively isolated area and a very popular place among hikers.
We will stay each night at a different mountain hut... and they are some of the best huts in the Dolomites! The starting point of this 4-day hiking trip will be Auronzo di Cadore.

Description

We will start from Auronzo di Cadore, and take the cableway to the top of Mt. Agudo, then we will traverse under the eastern walls of marmarole, to reach Rifugio Baion where we will spend the night. Then we will go to Rifugio Chiggiato, with its wonderful view on the Friuli Dolomites and on the Cadore lake on one side, and on Mt. Antelao, the king of the Dolomites on the other. We will descend to Capanna degli Alpini for the night. The next day we will go up to Small Gap and then descend on the other side to reach Rifugio S. Marco, one of the oldest mountain huts of the area. On our last day we will go up to the Big Gap and descend San Vido Valley to get back to Auronzo.

MARMAROLE RUNDE - 4 DAYS TOUR

I and II day

Description of itinerary.

Starting from Auronzo di Cadore, we will take the cableway to the top of mt. Agudo, and then start our trekking towards our destination for the night: Baion Hut. We will continue our trekking under the magnificent Marmarole, one of the wildest area of the Dolomites, and head to Chiggiato hut for lunch, with its wonderful view on the eastern peaks of the Friuli's Dolomites. Then we will descend in the Oten Valley, under the Mt. Antelao a.k.a. "the King of the Dolomites", and reach Capanna degli Alpini, where we will spend the night.

III day

Description of itinerary.

We will climb up to reach the Small Gap, from where we will have a wonderful view on some of the highest peaks in the Dolomites, and then descend towards our destination for the night: San Marco Hut, one of the oldest mountain huts in the region and also one of the most beautiful.

IV day

Description of itinerary.

We will climb up to reach the Big Gap, and then descend the solitary San Vido Valley with its wonderful views and waterfalls to reach the Auronzo Area from where we started.
